IZUMI CHAIN MFG.
March 1916 Established as the only manufacturing company specializing in bicycle chains in the Kansai region.Started manufacturing various types of roller chains.
July 1934 Reorganized to Izumi Chain Co., Ltd.
May 1950 Opened Tokyo sales office.
November 1954 Became a JIS-approved factory for bicycle chains.
April 1956 Received designation as a corporate rationalization model factory from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
May 1956 Became a JIS-approved factory for transmission roller chains.
July 1964 Completed new head office building and new factory.
June 1965 Certified as an export-contributing company by the Minister of International Trade and Industry (and annually thereafter).
December 1965 Increased capital to 125 million yen.
September 1969 Introduced and expanded production facilities such as dedicated assembly machines and continuous heat treatment furnaces.
July 1971 Formed a business alliance with Tsubakimoto Chain Co., Ltd.
December 1971 Increased capital to 200 million yen.
April 1973 Established Tsubaki Izumi Sales Co., Ltd. (currently Tsubakimoto Machinery Co., Ltd.) through a joint investment with Tsubakimoto Chain Co., Ltd.
March 1974 Increased capital to 280 million yen, still in place today.
November 1976 Started production of a new type of bicycle chain for transmission jointly developed with Shimano Co., Ltd.
June 1984 Introduced an automatic chain assembly machine. Planned to increase production.
October 1984 Introduced progressive dies and a dedicated press machine. Planned to increase production.
October 1985 Started production of narrow chains (burring chains) for Shimano Co., Ltd.
March 1988 Cooperated with the Osaka Prefectural Enterprise Bureau's Hannan Hills Development Project (soil extraction project for the construction of the new Kansai International Airport).
October 1985 Introduced a large continuous heat treatment furnace. Planned to expand production.
April 1995 Started production of a new super narrow chain for Shimano Co., Ltd.
June 1998 Switched to city gas for LP gas for heat treatment furnaces.
June 1999 Started introducing robots to chain assembly lines.
July 2003 Started production of a new type of super narrow chain for Shimano Co., Ltd.
March 2005 Expanded high-speed automatic precision press for new super narrow chain.
April 2007 Started production of environmentally resistant chains that comply with the RoHS directive for Tsubakimoto Chain Co., Ltd.
October 2007 Expanded high-speed automatic precision presses to increase production.
April 2008 Started production of a new high-grade super narrow chain for Shimano Co., Ltd.
January 2009 Started production of small chains (small size) for Tsubakimoto Chain Co., Ltd.
February 2009 Started production of solid bush chains with improved wear life and transmission capacity for Tsubakimoto Chain Co., Ltd.
March 2010 Acquired ISO 9001:2008 certification.
March 2010 Introduced an Ultimate Precision Forming Press Machine.
May 2010 Started production of a new high-grade super narrow chain (new series) for Shimano Co., Ltd.
November 2011 Started production of a new motorcycle chain for Tsubakimoto Chain Co., Ltd.
May 2012 Started production of a new high-grade super narrow chain (new series) for Shimano Co., Ltd.
August 2015 Relocated Tokyo sales office to Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture.
January 2016 Started production of a new grease chain with improved wear life for Tsubakimoto Chain Co., Ltd.
March 2016 Izumi Chain Co., Ltd. celebrated its 100th anniversary.
November 2016 Awarded as an excellent tax reporting corporation by the Izumisano Tax Office.
May 2017 Signed a sponsorship agreement with Izu Velodrome.
December 2017 Completed PCN factory.
January 2019 Signed a sponsorship agreement with USA Cycling (U.S.A. Cycling Federation). Began joint development of IZUMI-KAI.
April 2020 Started sales of IZUMI-KAI track racing chain.
June 2020 IZUMI MFG VIETNAM CO.,LTD. was established in Vietnam.
September 2022 Completed new office (Building B) of head office.
March 2023 Began operation of the Momonokidai factory.
May 2024 IZUMI MFG VIETNAM CO.,LTD began operation.
